Coming off the heels of last months “Slow Down” single, Raise Hell Over The Summer are back in gear with their brand new video “Hamster on a Wheel”. It’s a bombastic ride of repetition and psychedelia all wrapped up in a fun little package.

The track explores the monotony of the daily grind of our lives. The video opens at dawn and crashes into a montage of each member of the band preparing for work. There are common scenes that thread the montages together, like coffee being poured out, showers being taken, and teeth getting brushed. In between those scenes you’re invited into an almost completely different video, full of trippy visuals of the band members spinning and gears turning. Curtis Williams (the band’s singer) said “those scenes are meant to represent the passage of time”,

Reflecting on the song Williams said “Hamster actually came together for me relatively easily. I originally demoed it in GarageBand on my iPhone in one afternoon and then sent it over to the group for approval.” Lyrically the song is in line with the themes of the video, “I had a vicious week at the last job I was working and actually wrote the lyrics in the parking lot during a break”.

Staying true to their DIY ethos, the band handled all aspects of the video, from recording the music to filming and editing it. Stay tuned for more RHOTS music soon.
