2022 HAS BEEN AN AMAZING YEAR FOR MUSIC. BE IT POWERFUL SONGS FROM EMERGING UPSTARTS, FOLLOW UP ALBUMS FROM BANDS ON THE RISE OR NEW MATERIAL FROM ICONIC ARTISTS WE’VE LOVED ALL OF OUR LIVES, THERE’S ALWAYS SOMEONE MAKING NEW SOUNDS TO INSPIRE US. HERE’S A RUNDOWN OF 10 OF OUR FAVORITE SONGS OF 2022 SO FAR.

1. Thysen “Splinter”

The lead single from this post shoegaze unit’s new E.P. “Saigon” is an absolute gem. Hands down one of the best new U.K. bands going today.

2. Full Catholic “Not Afraid Of Winter This Year”

Awesome band out of Minneapolis. I just can’t get enough of this song. From it’s beautiful vocals to the top notch instrumentation it’s just a great piece of music. So inspiring. Get into them.

3. AURAGRAPH “Escapism”

Prolific synthesizer composer Hector Carlos Ramirez aka AURAGRAPH is back with a new record and his first for the always impressive Dias Records. This song “Escapism” and it’s accompanying video are nothing short of mind bending.

4. Tim Kinsella & Jenny Pulse “Blindfold”

New song from one of my favorite duos taken from their upcoming album “GIMME ALTAMONT” out on July 29th  Tim & Jenny are always creating and expanding our minds with their “way out” sounds. Brilliant track and video.

5. Death Bells “Hysteria”

What an amazing  song. Catchy as hell yet still dark and mysterious. When describing the making of the song the band said “It was one of those moments where the tune just figured itself out. It feels urgent, immediate and honest, and we’re very proud of it.”

6. The Moonbugs “Delimondo”

Excellent track from this Virginia shoegaze/post punk crew. The band take us back to the glory days of Ride, The Wedding Present and Sonic Youth. Their new album “Chaotically…” is full of other top notch numbers you are sure to enjoy.

7  Cold Gawd “Sweet Jesus Wept Shit”

Cold Gawd is the flag under which California-based multi-instrumentalist Matt Wainwright creates stormy, wounded shoegaze music born of open tunings and R&B melodies. The groups latest single “Sweet Jesus Wept” is an real ripper that channels so many hypnotic nuances it’ll make your head spin. Glorious in every way.

8. Cumulostratus “Autumn Horizons”

Incredible synth wave/down tempo/soundtrack sounds out of Kansas City. This track takes you to another world and takes things to another level. One of many amazing tracks on the projects latest album “Old Spells”.

9. The Velvetheads “it doesn’t make sense”

I can’t say enough good things about this band. “it doesn’t make sense” is one of my favorite tracks form the groups latest record “You Know, I Did” which is a noise filled psychedelic shoegaze masterpiece.

10. Alexander Golden “Violets All The Way”

There’s something really special about Alexander Golden’s approach to songwriting and guitar playing. The track is from their latest E.P. “Wings Of The Whale” which also includes two other incredible songs.
