New York City musician Mirasloss recently released their tremendously inspiring new album “Dreamer” which includes a dozen tracks of one of a kind cosmic soundscapes.
Beginning with the free spirited appeal of “inkling” I was quickly captivated by the colorful sounds and detailed textures that come through in the instrumentation. It’s literally some of the most futuristic and enlightening music I’ve heard in quite some time. The range of the vocals is off the charts and the layers of sonic swells really get things off to an incredible start.
Next up is the title track which fuses ripping beats with lulling tones and distorted melodies alongside an almost secretive vocal cadence that gives way to a more direct matter of fact style delivery.
“Poseidon” features a steady run of pulsating synths and danceable rhythms that work great with the glitchy edits and sparkling lyrical flow. This meshes with the following piece “Monster” perfectly. Both songs make you feel like you just stepped out of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and fell right onto the yellow brick road in The Wizard Of Oz. It’s a stimulating listening experience to say the least and I can’t recommend it enough.
As for the next track “Veins” it carries more of a pop feel to it but if it was thrown inside a blender along with a healthy portion of The Boredoms “Pop Tatari” LP. It’s hammering beat and wash of flourishing sounds are a delight to my ears and mind. “Insomnia” embraces some similar traits but from more of a mid tempo ballad type direction.
Everything peaks in full force on “small town, big world” with it’s layers of distortion, frantic beats and grinding noises. I’d love to hear this track played in a club shortly before closing time. It gives all new meaning to the term “musical frenzy”.
Other favorites include the ambient presence of “if you love me, you’ll leave me alone”, “music concrete-ish” “God’s Eyes” and seven and a half minute banger “an angel with no wings”.
Simply put “Dreamer” is quite a remarkable album. It showcases an artist who’s not afraid to be themselves and puts every once of energy into what they are doing. Top notch in every way. It makes me feel free and reminds me that anything is possible.
