LAVA Presents is hosting the latest edition of their Mini-Fest series this Saturday April 13th at Toast & Perro Blanco in Norfolk Virginia and as always it features a stacked line up of amazing bands. You can get tickets here.

Doors open at 4:00 PM and music starts at 5:00 PM with a performance from Modern Day Warrior  who are “not a Rush cover band” but do a variety of alternative rock and modern rock covers. The group have performed at various local venues like Smartmouth Beer and Elevation 27 and should set the pace for an awesome day of music. Check out their recent performance at The Sandler Center in Virginia beach below.

Up next will be the Norfolk based duo Captive Birds made up of Jacob McCoy on Drum Machine, Keyboards, Vocals, and Samples alongside Scott Rockswold on Guitar and Vocals. The band have released two stellar singles “Tranquil Seas” and “Hates In Season” which you can get from their bandcamp page. They have a colorful soothing sound that draws you in and takes you on a hypnotic journey.

The Mitras out of Richmond Virginia recently released a high energy rock n roll single called “Red Rover” that’s full of memorable riffs that give it all of the makings of a modern rock anthem. The group formed back in 2019 and is made up of vocalist/songwriter Sean Moran alongside bassist Austin Miller and drummer Russell Redmond.

“Free” is the long awaited new album from Zac Plastic which focuses on the more singer/songwriter side of folk and indie rock. There’s a nice balance between all of the instruments and vocals and I’m looking forward to seeing this group live for the first time.

Another Richmond based group Doll Baby will also take the stage. Their pop punk indie rock sound shines brightly on their latest album “Heirloom” which dropped back in March and features stand out tracks like “The Great Divide” and “Treetops”.

Nothing, Nowhere, Now, Here are a newer Norfolk/VA Beach based band that have a big melodic guitar sound that’s backed by a thunderous rhythm section and  Allen Cattell’s compelling vocal style.

Check out this performance they did in Norfolk back in November below.

Closing out the night will be Norfolk based electronic musician Logan Laurent’s long running project Karacell which is always an amazing experience. Check out the clip below from the Karacell performance at She Fest 2023 and visit their official site here.
