Ghost Party’s latest single from their upcoming album Ghost Moves is a moody masterpiece called “Cardboard Moon.” A slow contemplative cosmic country tune that meanders like a late night drive, complete with ethereal pedal steel, mellotron strings, and eerie vocal harmonies.

A “Cardboard Moon” is a phrase coined by a sadly departed dear friend of the band — “When everything else stinks in life..at least there’s this cardboard moon” she’d say, with a knowing grin and conviction in her eyes. Sounds simple..plain even, but it got us through several dark and sweaty central Texas nights and now miss her dearly.

“Cardboard Moon” was tracked in Khruangbin producer Steve Christensen’s studio in Houston Texas in the fall of 2023 following their sessions for their album A La Sala… and hopefully some of that studio  vibe presence can be felt on this Ghost Party track. Will Van Horn returns to supply masterful pedal steel and that slides gently through the tune.  Drums are played by Victor Sanchez, bass, piano, rhodes, and celeste are played by Kendrick Ballard.  McCullough Ferguson sings vocals, plays guitar, and mellotron.
