Brussels based post punk unit The Bernadette Maries unleash a sonic blast of colorful rock n roll on their debut E.P. “LvvV”.

Things get exciting right out of the gate with the vibrant sounds of “Glowing”. It’s driving rhythm and cunning guitar sounds set the pace for things in fine fashion and stir up vibes of bands like  The Jesus And Mary Chain and Singapore Sling.

“Dream Place” is led by an infectious bassline that’s surrounded by  melodic guitars and a memorable vocal cadence that breaks into an almost “New Romantics” style  “spoken word” section in the middle before returning to it’s original riff. There are some brilliantly played guitar leads along with a beautiful wash of searing synths at the end of the track that really send it off in grand fashion.

Tracks like the cosmic  “Nouvelle Vague” the upbeat “We Know Everything” and the simply titled “Interlude”  really show off the bands amazing musicianship and  diversity. The songs all compliment each other in a really special way and keep the listener on their toes.

The E.P. closes out with the epic title track “LvvV” which channels a moody melody that floats alongside the absolutely crushing riffs and array of looming nuances that run through it all. This song truly has all of the makings of an anthem and will have you singing along with it almost instantly.

Overall this is a tremendous debut E.P. for a band I expect big things from in the not so distant future. They are honestly the total package and I can’t recommend this record enough.
