Nullsign are a high energy shoegaze trio based in Toledo, Ohio. Their debut E.P. “Sensory” harnesses all of their power and intensity across five brilliantly crafted tracks.

The blistering guitar work of “Sublight” gets everything going right out of the gate as haunting chords ring out through layers of mind bending, reverb drenched psychedelia. There’s a galloping groove that ties everything together underneath all of the rich levels of atmospheric bliss and I absolutely love it.

“Unsound” echoes the spirits of classic shoegaze bands like Ride and Pale Saints as it’s crushing drums and distorted guitars mesh perfectly with the dreamy vocals that flow throughout the track.

The intensity continues with the driving force of “Incense” while the infectious rhythm and riff of “Salt” will have you floored by the avalanche of sound the band are able to create. I must also note that the bass guitar really shines through on both of these tracks in a big way and showcases a variety of exquisite tones while doing so.

Everything culminates with the primal sounds of “Phantom Pain” which is loaded with chiming guitars and more thunderous power.

I think what impresses me most about Nullsign is their way of crafting melodic, hook filled sounds with truly crushing energy and captivating dynamics. A fine debut E.P. from beginning to end.
