Crux Of Faith are a beautiful shoegaze project led by musician Joshua Hatten. The group recently dropped their first release since 2019 with a three song E.P. fittingly titled “A New Day”.
The title track begins with a flourishing of bongos that are quickly joined by an infectious drum beat and lush, elegant guitar tones before the beautiful sounds of vocalist Rebecca Vines hit the mix and create a vibrant, colorful mix that draws you in with it’s blissful, liquid like feel.
Next up is the lush and dreamy “Lonely Girl” which has a gliding dynamic to it and echoes the spirits of classic bands like The Sundays and The Darling Buds while “every time we say bye” features deep wavering guitar chords, a flowing bass line and pin point drums as Vines shines on vocals once again.
This is a spectacular E.P. that generates just the right amount of atmosphere to loom alongside the brilliant song structures and top tier vocals. Hopefully there’s more music to come in the not so distant future from this absolutely stellar project.
