Formed out of psych rockers Sky Picnic, Hanford Reach expanded on that established sonic palate, creating a poppier, synth based world that could only come about when the psychedelic kids grow up a bit, with less focus on genre and more on melody and feeling.
Their new album “Ceiling Stars” is a brilliant collection of infectious songs that relishes in beautiful layers of radiant keyboards, high energy electronic beats and colorful vocals.
Things get started with “Lens Flare” which serves as a brief intro before blasting into the uplifting spirit of “Remnants Of Sunset” which is sure to get you moving and dancing around as it’s an absolute banger.
Up next is the title track which features a bouncing bass line that drives everything along in fine form while songs like “Mascara Streaks”, “Anhendonia” and “Hypnosis” harness an other worldly energy that’s truly second to none.
“Clouds Of Jet Lag” is a passionate piece that shows off the projects diversity and songwriting abilities in new ways. It’s a truly cinematic track that I’m envisioning being played during the closing credits of an experimental science fiction film.
Another highlight is the hypnotic feeling “Warbler” as it’s psychedelic presence meshes perfectly with the songs energetic rhythm.
Overall “Ceiling Stars” is a fabulous record that creates a dreamy world that you never want to leave. Hanford Reach have a deep discography that dates back to 2017 so be sure to explore their discography as well.
“Ceiling Stars” will be available April 24th. Get all the details here.
