Los Angels post punk artist Penn Francis returns with an incredible new E.P. titled “SICKO”.

Things getting rolling right off the bat with “Alone/Ashamed”. It’s quick pulsating beat and gliding bass line draw you in and will have you singing along almost instantly. It’s the type of track that has all the makings of an underground anthem as it’s hook filled melodies and dance driven rhythm are absolutely stellar.

The quick pace continues on the thunderous “DEAR MARIE” as it’s catchy synth melodies lock in with the driving drum machine tones as Francis vocals loom over it all in fine form.

“Won’t Change” might be my favorite track as there’s just something really special about this song. Be it the vocal cadence, instrumentation or intricate guitar work it all comes together to create a hypnotically haunting song that I keep going back to over and over.

Other highlights include the cold stance of “Take A Bite”, the vibrant feel of “Precious Nightfall” and the underlying menace of “Her Face”.

This all leads up to the title track which moves into rather experimental territory and makes great use of ethereal guitars and an overall ominous vibe. The track builds and builds before eventually locking into a lulling wash of cosmic sonic energy. Their are voices and strings that give way to Francis beautiful vocals as the track comes to a close.

Overall “SICKO” is an amazing collection of songs that solidifies Francis as a top tier writer and performer in every way. This record is a remarkable achievement and I can’t recommend it enough.
