“Inuuro” started as a band in 2012, and according to the group, their latest album “Pacific Northwest” “represents a 13-year journey together as friends and producers. An album inspired by the incredible nature of the northwestern American continent, and this is also an album that represents the sonic soundscape of “Inuuro” as we want you to experience it. An eclectic mix of ambient, folk, downtempo, post-rock, house, and electronica.”
The record kicks off with the title track which is loaded with pulsating synths, a powerful beat and captivating dynamics. It’s very cinematic and certainly takes you to a vibrant place that’s passionate, colorful and warm.
Delay driven guitars set the pace for the elegantly layered sounds of “North Cascades”. It’s rich textures and wandering melodies move well alongside it’s thumping bassline and spacey nuances while “Cannon Beach” showcases some beautiful acoustic guitars and lush ambient tones that I really love.
Things get slightly more mysterious sounding on “Floral Fields” as walls of electronics move and warble in between the tracks pounding rhythm which sits well next to “Fading Embers” which also harnesses some hypnotic elements that are astonishingly beautiful.
Just when you think you’ve heard everything “Break” filters in aspects of folk guitar structures and blends them with a sea of uplifting keyboards and sound manipulation which showcases just how diverse this group can be.
Other highlights include the dance driven feel of “Above The Treeline”, the darkness of “American Chestnut” and the catchy vibe of the albums final track “Spring”.
“Pacific Northwest” is a tremendous record that features a band that have perfected their craft while continuing to develop and expand their sound in big ways.
