Today Psych-pop artist Das Kope releases his highly anticipated second album, Brutamonte. Entirely written, performed, and produced by Das Kope, the 10-track album blends kaleidoscopic influences from psychedelia, krautrock, bossa nova, and post-punk. Originally from Brazil and now based in Los Angeles, Das Kope is known for his immersive DIY approach, crafting both his music and unique visuals for each song. “I’m excited and relieved to finally share this album with the world,” he says. You can purchase Brutamonte HERE.

By writing the word kaleidoscope on a piece of paper and then looking at it with a real kaleidoscope, Das Kope found his name. The Brazilian-born, Los Angeles-based, self-taught psych pop multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter and producer lives in his own DIY world. He not only writes, plays and produces everything on his recordings but also makes his own animated visuals for all of his music.

Drawing inspiration from various genres, including psychedelia, krautrock, French pop, bossa nova and trip hop, he has described his sound as “The Beach Boys trapped in a Black Mirror episode.” His full-length debut, Where I Live (2020), is an ‘eerily fitting apocalyptic and lysergic portrait of a rebellious and boundary-pushing artist in isolation.’ Together, the tracks from Where I Live have over 23 million streams.

After a couple of busy years touring North America in 2022 and 2023, Das Kope retreated in his studio through 2024. Immersed in a world of guitar pedals, cassette recorders, Casio keyboards and his trusty laptop, he focused on crafting new music free from the constraints of releases or tours. “I love recording,” he admits, “but it’s a solitary and sometimes maddening journey, and towards the end, I couldn’t wait to wrap it up.”

Throughout 2025, Das Kope steadily released a string of singles, hinting at a new album with a slightly vague promise of its arrival before the end of the year. Now it’s official: Das Kope’s second album, Brutamonte, will be released on November 7. Entirely written, performed, and produced by Das Kope, Brutamonte features 10 tracks that showcase a vibrant, kaleidoscopic blend of his diverse influences. “I’m excited and relieved to finally share this album with the world,” he says. Das Kope has also created unique visuals for each song of Brutamonte, and says he’s looking to bring it all together live on a 2026 US tour. Stay tuned.
