LOCKSTEP is a Nashville-based band that pulls elements from shoegaze, doom and heavy rock. They’ve built a sound rooted in atmosphere and weight, moving between quiet, uneasy moments and crushing walls of noise. With each release, the band has tightened their approach—cutting excess and focusing on impact.

Following a rollout of several singles (most recently “Drag Along” in 2025), the Arrival EP in 2023, and shows/tours with Prize Horse, Gumm, and more, LOCKSTEP‘s forthcoming debut full-length, I Know What I Saw, stands as the band’s most focused and complete statement to date.  Drummer/vocalist Austin Rolison comments, “This record is, hands down, our most dialed material yet in every sense. We put a lot of trust and focus into our sonic instincts and ended up with eight songs that I feel truly define everything LOCKSTEP is at this point.”

I Know What I Saw leans into massive, slow-burning riffs and dense, layered guitars that stay engaging without letting up, locking into sections that feel both hypnotic and suffocating. Songs stretch and build with purpose, pulling listeners deeper into the band’s world while keeping a constant sense of tension and release. The album’s first single “Ash in the Water” arrives today and Rolison says it’s “…more mid-tempo than anything we’ve done before and I think serves as a perfect glimpse into the album.”

I Know What I Saw was recorded by Zac Montez at Welcome to 1979 in Nashville, TN, mixed by Matt Schumacher, and mastered by Nick Townsend.  Following the album’s July 24 release date [pre-order], Lockstep will be hitting the road on a US tour in support of REZN—  check out tour dates below and look for more news from LOCKSTEP soon.
