Salt Lake City based band Trainsurfing recently unleashed their most powerful material to date with this new E.P. called “Bitter”.
The title track gets everything started with it’s clean, ominous presence that quickly shifts into a thunderous blast of dream driven doom rock. The glistening guitar leads work perfectly with the pounding drums and fuzz drenched riffs that ooze through the speakers to create a colorful mix of menace and beauty.
“Falling Down The Stairs” really draws you in with it’s lush layers of cosmic instrumentation and ethereal vocal cadence. There’s also a tremendous flash of vibrant percussion at the end of track that really gives the piece it’s own sense of style.
Meanwhile “Hooves” showcases the bands tremendous writing and arranging abilities. This song is full of moody dynamics that swing back and forth and harness a ton of emotion and energy as the rich atmospherics of closing number “I Wish I Wasn’t Here” bring the record to an end in fine form.
Overall a very enjoyable record that’s inspiringly cinematic in every way.
