Jerry Cantrell brought his solo band to The Norva in Norfolk, Virginia last night for an absolutely stellar performance in support of his new album “I Want Blood”.

The place was full of well over a thousand enthusiastic fans who were amped and ready for a night of high powered rock n roll and the Alice In Chains guitarist/vocalist/songwriter led the group through a mix of songs from the new record that included a stream rolling rendition of  “Vilified”, the hypnotically heavy “Off The Rails” and the stoically grinding “Afterglow” alongside Alice In Chains classics like “Them Bones”, “Down In A Hole” and “Hate To Feel”.

Cantrell was joined onstage by Ray Maorga (X-Ministry/Stone Sour) on Drums, guitarist Zach Throne, Bassist Eliot Lorango and vocalist Greg Pucioto who spent more than fifteen years as the vocalist of The Dillinger Escape Plan and also currently fronts the band Better Lovers.

Pucioto did an incredible job harmonizing with Cantrell and it’s really amazing seeing him show off a totally different style than what he’s done in any of his previous bands and truly crush it in every way.

Other favorites from the set included “Angel Eyes” from Cantrell’s 2002 album “Degradation Trip” and a thunderous take of AIC’s “Would?” with Lorango really shining while ripping through the tracks signature bassline.

After a brief break the group returned for an encore that featured “Held Your Tongue”, “Brighten” and a phenomenal performance of “The Rooster” that once again had Pucioto and Cantrell feeding off of each other perfectly and capped off a spectacular evening.
