Based in Sydney Australia, Holy Forrest knock one out of the park with this brilliantly beautiful five song E.P. Opening cut “WHIRL” delves deep into the roots of shoegaze with dream like layers and reverb drenched swells that echo the spirits of classic Ride.
This is followed by the glistening spirit of “STRAWBERRY JAM” which is backed by an infectious beat and one of the most delightful guitar melodies I’ve heard in some time. The vocals combine a fine blend of hypnotic psychedelia with indie pop bliss. “CUMULO” drifts back into a sea of dreamy swagger and sway while “DIFFERENCE” takes on a darker more dirge-driven stance.
Everything hits a peak during closing number “IN2U” as its wash of colorful guitars and intense vocals send the E.P. off in grand fashion and leave you wanting more. Highly recommended. Listen here.
