Denver Colorado based electronic composer The Surging Mass impresses yet again with another impeccable album simply titled “3.5”.

The records throbbing synths and vivid atmospherics take you on a journey that’s meditative, colorful and incredibly thought provoking.

It all starts out with the title track which features washes of shimmering tones that flow together like a colorful futuristic dream. This Segway’s perfectly into the slightly more gritty state of “Sold To Council”. It’s got a cool almost free jazz type pattern that’s really quite enticing.

“oViDeo” is a quick melodic piece backed by a light shuffling rhythm while tracks like “Stones” and “Storge” are more fluid and liquid like.

Eventually the album shifts into the cosmic landscape of “dUb L7”. There’s a rather orchestral stance to it that incorporates just the right amount of mystery and menace to the mix and could certainly serve as the soundtrack to many of our favorite 80’s sci-fi films.

Another standout track is the rich and compelling energy of “mn3v”.  It’s added percussion and spaced out, down tempo approach comes off nothing short of stellar and creates a colorfully lulling vibe that draws you in with each and every listen.

Overall “3.5” is top of the line and it showcases an artist who has truly perfected their craft yet continues to evolve with each and every release.
