Led by Los Angeles based musicians Tim Steingraeber (Vocals, Guitars, Bass, Synths) and Cole Williams (Drums, Synths), Cherry Heaven blend aspects of shoegaze, psych rock, post punk and indie pop on their latest album “Let It Be Corrupted”.

The radiant feel of opening number “Early Fade” instantly draws you into the bands other worldly head space as chiming guitars ring out over an infectious bass line and driving garage rock beat.  It’s all got a very organic feel to it that’s really appealing to me.

“Something About Him” kicks off with a thunderous blast of desolate guitar noise before diving into a brilliant blast of hook filled indie pop. It makes me think what it would have been like if Syd Barrett jammed with Donovan backstage before a 13th Floor Elevators show.

These vibes continue throughout  “Future Feelings” but with a slightly darker almost gothic stance to it all. It’s very spooky and mysterious as Steingraeber’s vocals shine throughout the track in every way.

Things move into a more electronic direction on “Blazing Rings” while still harnessing an underlying element of psychedelia. Think Madchester era grooves mixed with layers of pulsating synths and colorful atmospherics. It showcases the groups diversity and ever expanding realm of sonic landscapes they enjoy exploring in grand fashion.

The introspective guitar work that flows throughout “Sundazed” is truly magical sounding. The song moves with elegance and grace and makes me feel like I’ve been transported into a futuristic paradise full of happy roaming animals, beautiful vegetation and peaceful ponds. The passion and poise Steingraeber displays throughout this piece is truly remarkable.

Other highlights of the album include the hazy/gazey appeal of “One Up”, more experimental sided “Gold Dynamite” and the swagger and sway of the highly uplifting “Twenty Kicks”.

“Let It Be Corrupted” is hands down one of my favorite albums of 2022. It opens your mind to a musical world that’s worth exploring in every way and delivers something new and inspiring with each and every listen.
