Kresy are a four piece band based in Łódź, Poland  The groups latest E.P. “Lumer” is a magical mix that explores aspects of math rock, avant-garde noise and vibrant art rock.

Leadoff number “Bies” reminds me of John Zorn’s Naked City mixed with the flamboyancy of early Roxy Music. The songs technical musicianship along with the amount of utter chaos they can create in just over four minutes is truly amazing.

Things quickly shift right into the blistering world of “Zakret” which blends frantic blasts of sonic mayhem with a sea of lulling tones that create some incredible dynamics throughout the track. It’s up and down pace really play with the overall mood in the best possible way.

The record really never slows down as “Krew” opens with what might the fastest guitar riff of all time while “85A” channels a more post punk type vibe with it’s angular feel and stoic stance.

Overall “Lurner” is a truly tremendous release from beginning to end. It’s the type of record that has so much going on that you can’t wait to hear what comes next. Imagine if The Boredoms jammed with Mahavishnu Orchestra backstage at a Sun Ra show.
