Alexander Golden writes and performs dreamy folk compositions as a means to express the experience of an over-saturated world.
Their latest E.P. “Wing Of The Whale” features three brilliantly crafted songs that harness uncharted levels of mystery and intrigue.
“Violets All The Way” showcases Golden’s elegant guitar playing alongside a layer of wandering strings. This all creates an incredible dynamic that wraps around his swaggering vocal delivery in fine form. It’s welcoming yet intense, It’s loud but quiet and it’s subliminally psychedelic all at once.
Up next is the dreamy, hazy sounding “The Sick”. The sea of hypnotic vocals and shimmering tones that flow through this piece give all new meaning to the term otherworldly. The finger picking guitar sounds drive the songs intensity and showcase Golden’s ability to arrange experimental sounds with traditional instrumentation in an original and inspiring way.
The record winds down with the E.P.s title track which is possibly the most ambient piece of the three. The guitars bring to mind shoegaze legends like Slowdive & The Cocteau Twins while the reversed vocals and swirling undertones create an astounding wash of cinematic sound that leave the listener beaming with delight.
Overall “Wing Of The Whale” is an inspiring record that takes you on a vivid journey and leaves you wanting more. Have a listen here.
